This is the site of Alphabetrix – a Tasmanian urban arts collective formed in early 2010. Alphabetrix is a group of young Tasmanian artists with similar ideals and diverse backgrounds. Our lives are lived in the pathway of our artwork, and we are forming a collective to support one another as we continue to do so.
The Alphabetrix website has a few functions. Its a space for our growing collective to have a professional, easy to update and integrated web presence. Its a place for the artists to blog if they wish to. Its a place for public urban art projects to find a web-home if they need one. Its a place that will grow and flourish as more features and spaces are added.
A brief outline of each space and how they work for those that are wondering.
Profiles
These are places where the artists can display whatever they like in the form of a folio. They can easily add photos and video – and music is coming. They can write about themselves, split their work into categories and display whatever further imagery they wish. It is, as the name implies, a profile of themselves.
Blogs
We have one unified Alphabetrix blog. Each of the artists can post to the blog and it will come up with them as the author. They can use the blog how they wish, its a place for them to talk about what they have seen, their inspirations, stories of projects, summaries of gigs weve done or reviews of ones weve been to. Each artists will use it in a different way, for example Jonny and Martie use it to write reviews about shows theyve been to, Aedan has used it to post photos that he believes dont fit into his folio to name a couple. Now that we have a new website we hope to see more posts as the artists learn the backend.
Were always open to suggestiongs, criticisms and thoughts on what were doing. Either drop us an email at info@alphabetrix.com.au or contact us on facebook at www.facebook.com/alphabetrix
